Research Interests & Focus

• Biopesticides & Locally Available Botanicals (LABs): Investigating plant natural products (including extracts, powders, and essential oils from Allium sativum, Chenopodium ambrosioides, Tephrosia vogelii, Petiveria alliacea, Hyptis suaveolens, Zanthoxylum zanthoxyloides, and others) as eco-friendly alternatives to synthetic insecticides. Evaluating their ovicidal, larvicidal, insecticidal, and repellent properties against medical, veterinary, and stored-product insect pests such as Anopheles gambiae, Periplaneta americana, Callosobruchus maculatus, Sitophilus zeamais, and Tribolium castaneum.

• Biosafety, Biosecurity & Laboratory Biorisk Management: Developing institutional biorisk assessment frameworks, GMO regulatory safety evaluation, dangerous goods shipping protocols, and biosecurity threat reduction across laboratory, veterinary, and healthcare facilities.

• Research in Progress & One Health: Spearheading cutting-edge investigations on the identification of arthropod-borne pathogens affecting human and veterinary health, chemical profiling of active botanical compounds using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS), and community perception studies on botanical-treated insecticidal bednets.
